Patrick’s Day at
Chinook Winds
Chinook Winds Casino is
holding a four-day St. Patrick’s Day
celebration from March 14-17.
It’s a full-scale celebration in the
convention center, complete with a
no-host Irish food court, a no-host bar
with Irish-themed drinks, live
entertainment, and a chance to win a
trip for two to Ireland. Beads and
party favors will add to the festivities.
Admission is free!
Event hours are 4 p.m. -11 p.m.,
March 14-15; and 2 p.m.- 9 p.m.,
March 16-17. Niall Stanley & The
Rovers, McNamara’s Band, and Paddy
O’Leary and his Little Leprechaun
will provide entertainment.
The drawing for the trip to Ireland,
which has no cash option, will take
place on March 17 at 9 p.m. The winner
does not need to be present. If the
winner is present, however, he/she
will receive a $500 cash bonus!
The Spirit of Ireland will bring
the music and dance of Ireland to
Chinook Winds’ showroom on
March 15. Through the use of
traditional Celtic instruments, the
sound is authentically Irish. The
musicians are top caliber and the
dancers are world champions.
Show time is 8 p.m. and tickets
range from $10 to $20, depending on
seat location.

Masciantonio Named Fourth Quarter Superstar
Earle
(pronounced
Early)
Masciantonio, a member of the Cash
Cage crew, was selected as the casino’s
Superstar for the fourth quarter of 2002.
Tribal elders, members of the
Gaming Board of Directors, the Siletz
Tribal Regulatory Agency, Chinook
Winds directors, and several members
of the casino staff were present at the
Superstar ceremony on Jan. 30. In
recognition of her achievement, Earle
was presented with a $ 1,000 check and
a marble tile that will be displayed at
the front of the casino.
To be eligible to receive the
Superstar award, an employee must
perform his/her duties at a high standard
of excellence on a consistent basis. He/
she must exhibit above-the-norm
internal and external customer service
and be a team leader by example.
Instances of exem
plary performance
must be documented.
Each nomination
goes through several
reviews before the
final selection is
made. Both casino
staff and casino guests
can submit Superstar
nominations. With
more than 700 em
ployees and only four
of these awards given
each year, it’s a real
honor to be chosen as
the Superstar.
Earle’s nomination stated how
much she was admired for her con
tinued great customer service and
caring for others, even though she faces
some serious personal challenges.
Dance Again to Country Sounds
Chinook Winds Casino’s country dances are back by popular demand!
The Lana Kress Band will start off the series of dances on March 29 at 8 p.m. in
the convention center. Pull on your boots and get ready to two-step on a super
sized dance floor with a no-host bar and one hour of free dance lessons prior to
the dance.
Kress started her music career by entertaining the crowds at the Roadhouse
Grill in Gresham, Ore., every weekend. In 1999 and 2000, she was the Washington
state winner and a regional finalist in the Country Showdown, the nation’s largest
country music talent search.
She opened for Travis Tritt in July 2000 when he came to Portland to play an
acoustic concert. She also opened for a “Legends of Country Music” show in
Canada. Kress was a regional finalist in the TNN Prime Time Country Road to
Nashville Talent Series. She was selected to compete in the televised Charlie
Daniel’s Talent Roundup.
Currently, Kress has a debut CD on sale titled Be Careful What You Wish For,
which is getting airplay in Europe and Australia.
Tickets, priced at $10, are available at the box office. The next country dance
is scheduled for June 27, featuring the McKenzie River Band.

to Appear
Hot Lava Polynesian Revue
Heats Up Casino
Runi Tafeaga’s Hot Lava
Polynesian Revue will appear at
Chinook Winds Casino on March 28,
30, and 31.
Enjoy Runi Tafeaga’s Hot Lava
Polynesian Revue, a traditional
Hawaiian luau show, starring Zou Lou,
who played Detective Kono on
Hawaii 5-0. Hot Lava features a live
band; male and female dancers from
Earle Masciantonio
Tahiti, Samoa, and Hawaii; and fire
eater Chief Mika from Samoa.
The producer/director and emcee is
Runi Tafeaga from Samoa. Many cast
members have performed at the
two most famous luau shows in
Honolulu, Paradise Cove Luau and
Germaine’s Luau.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m.
performances. Tickets are priced at $10.
The luau show includes a no-host bar
with tropical drinks and a no-host food
court featuring Polynesian appetizers.
Attendees will receive five bonus
tickets for the chance to win a Hawaiian
vacation. The vacation drawing will
take place at 10 p.m. each night.

perform at Chinook Winds Casino on
March 28.
The Men of Paradise, who also
perform with Runi Tafeaga’s Hot Lava
Polynesian Revue, a traditional
Hawaiian luau show, are from Tahiti,
Samoa and Hawaii. Several of
these young men were featured on
Baywatch Hawaii.
This one night only performance
will take place in the convention center.
Doors open at 8:30 p.m. for the 9 p.m.
show. Tickets are $10. A no-host bar
will be available. This show is limited
to those age 21 and over.
