Tribe to Apply for CSBG Funds
The Siletz Tribe is preparing an
application for the U.S. Office of
Community Services for Community
Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding.
CSBG funds are used to plan
programs that increase affordable
housing, create jobs, help people access
services, and develop other projects that
help families become more self-
sufficient. The funding level is $7,000
to $10,000.
The proposal will help the tribe
reorganize a community development
corporation that could access resources
not currently available to the tribe for
developing affordable housing. Funds
also would be used to explore
establishing a tribal credit union.
Other CSBG activities include
advocating for tribal members with
agencies in our service area to ensure
that the needs of tribal members and
Indian people in those counties are
addressed and to secure funding to
provide seed money for community
programs and projects.
If you would like a copy of the
CSBG application or have suggestions
about planning projects that would use
CSBG funding, contact Jim St. Martin,
tribal planner, at 541-444-8235 or
1-800-922-1399, ext. 235.
