Siletz Community Christmas
Program a Success
Sponsored by the Siletz Valley Partnership, Siletz Valley Grange, and the
Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon
The annual community Christmas
program began with a welcome from
Tina Retasket, assistant general
manager for the Siletz Tribe, followed
by Pastor Vance Lindstrom of the
Assembly of God Church with an
opening prayer.
The Siletz Tribal Head Start joined
the celebration by singing Rudolph the
Red Nose Reindeer and We Wish You a
Merry Christmas.
Christine Frederic, bookkeeper I
in the Accounting Department, graced
us with her beautiful voice, singing
Silent Night and O’ Holy Night, and
started an audience sing-a-long of
Frosty the Snowman.
Pam Lane, billings clerk at the
Siletz Clinic, and Siletz Middle School
students sang Little Drummer Boy,
Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and Have
a Merry, Merry Christmas.
A highlight of the celebration was
a tribal staff skit entitled “How the
Elves Saved Christmas.”
Another audience sing-a-long,
Deck the Halls and Santa Claus Is
Coming to Town, led to Santa Claus’
arrival in a fire truck. Young to old
gathered to get a chance to sit on Santa’s
lap and get their bag of goodies.
Kathy Stewart played the piano
while visitors enjoyed the celebration
and snacked on sandwiches, cookies,
refreshments, and other yummy treats.
