bom on Aug. 27,2002,
Delores Riding In and granddaughter Nicole Washington and my gramma,
Delores Riding In,
says I’m her second grandchild and I’ll be president someday.
Can you believe my mommy, Alana St. John, and my daddy, Antonio
Washington, are just now letting all of you meet me? Sheesh! Will you vote for
me? Thanks!
Triplets Join the Family
Jessica Unger and Joe Gifford are
proud to announce that they are now
the parents of three identical triplet girls
born on Oct. 1, 2002, at Legacy
Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Ore.
Bom in order are Aurora Josephine
Gifford, 2 pounds, 5° ounces,
14° inches long; Zoe Leilani Gifford,
3 pounds, 4.4 ounces, 16 inches long;
and Narayana Miyo Gifford, 3 pounds,
4 ounces, 16 inches long.
Congratulations to the proud
parents!

Toledo High School Names
October Students of the Month

Apollonia “Apples” Lane and Tony Applegate are October students of the
month at Toledo High School. The two seniors were selected by the Toledo High
Student Body Association.
Lane, 17, is the daughter of Kristi and William Lane of Siletz. She has
memberships in choir and Link Crew and is president of T-NASU (Toledo Native
American Student Union). The young woman is an aide in the special education
class, and outside of school, she enjoys ballet and modem dance. She is also
active in the Assembly of God Church in Siletz. Lane has attended the Native
American Youth Academy and looks forward this summer to attending the Oregon
Indian Education Association Conference.
She also sings and has taken part in school talent shows. Lane was Mrs.
Doembecher for the Doembecher Children’s Hospital fund-raising event. She
was also a homecoming court member. After high school, Lane plans to attend a
vocational school and learn floral design and business.
Applegate, 17, of Newport, is the son of Cameron Applegate of Toledo and
Darlene Applegate of Hawaii. School activities for the young man include Link
Crew, cross-country, wrestling, track, and football. He is also an aide in the special
education classroom. Applegate was Mr. Doembecher in the Doembecher
Children s Hospital fund-raising event. Applegate does handyman work for
businesses and individuals, and last summer, worked as a sportfishing deckhand.
After high school, Applegate plans to join a branch of the military and eventually
go to college.
