Kessinger Expands Flooring
Business with Grant
Randy Kessinger has been in the floor covering business for 20 years and
three years ago, he started his own business, Randy’s Floor Covering, in Salem,
Ore. Randy’s Floor Covering offers carpet and vinyl floor covering as well as
re-stretches and repairs. He is licensed, bonded, and insured (CCB #136629) in
residential and commercial flooring.
In early September, Randy received a $10,000 small business grant from the
Siletz Business Development Center. Randy’s Floor Covering was limited to
installation and repair but with this grant, he’ll be able to build a 30’x60’ shop
with a two-car bay for storage and inventory. This means that he’ll not only be
able to install, but also sell these products.
Randy says of the benefits of being able to sell and install, “I have more
one-on-one with the customers, the cost is less than in most stores, and if
anything ever happens, I’ll be in business and will be able to take care of it at
my customer’s convenience.”
Business comes to him by word of mouth and some advertising. Randy’s
Floor Covering serves Marion and 10 surrounding counties. He offers a 10 percent
discount to all Native Americans. For more information, give Randy a call at
503-581-6848 (business) or 503-316-4851 (pager).
