Engelbert Humperdinck Returns
The undisputed “King of Romance,’’ the crooner to top all crooners, Engelbert
Humperdinck will perform at Chinook Winds Casino on Sept. 6 and 7.
What better way to end the summer than by seeing this marvelous entertainer
in person, performing some of the greatest love ballads of all time.
More than three decades ago, a swoony ballad called Release Me knocked
The Beatles’ Penny Lane out of the No. 1 spot on the British pop charts and
introduced the world to Engelbert Humperdinck. Since then, his career has
produced sales in excess of 130 million records, including 64 gold and 23 platinum
records. Romantic love ballads, including The Last Waltz, After The Lovin ’, Spanish
Eyes, and Quando, Quando, Quando have continued to heighten the meaning of
romance for music lovers around the globe. Each of these songs is synonymous
with the name “Engelbert.”
Although he has changed with the times to a more contemporary mode, the
voice of this man with the 3-* octave vocal range is more powerful and richer
than ever. Count on many of the classic Humperdinck songs to be mixed in with
new and exciting sounds, spiced with humor for a terrific blend of entertainment.
Concert time for both nights is 8 p.m. Ticket are $3O-$5O, depending on
seat location.
Mexican Independence Day
Concert and Dance
In honor of the day Mexico observes its independence from Spain, Chinook
Winds Casino & Convention Center will host a celebration — two evenings of
comedy, music, and dancing. The event, which features Latino comedian Rick
Pulido and singer Claudine Castro, will take place on Sept. 13 and 14.
Rick Pulido has appeared in Up and Coming Comics on CBS and performed
in many nightclubs and college campuses throughout the western United States.
He has amused audiences from The Improv (Las Vegas) to Punchline (San
Francisco) to Hollywood Rock (Anchorage) with his standup comedy routine.
Claudine Castro launched her solo singing career in 1993 when she performed
on Liev ate lot, the No. 1-rated TV show in Latin America. Since then, she’s
performed in some of Las Vegas’ most famous venues, including the New York,
New York Casino and Caesar’s Palace, and entertained U.S. Armed Forces
throughout the Mediterranean.
Doors open at 8 p.m. both nights, with Rick Pulido taking the stage at 9 p.m.
Claudine Castro and her salsa band play from 9:45 p.m. to 2 a.m. Attendees will
enjoy a no-host bar and large dance floor. This is an open-seating event. Tickets
are $12 in advance and $15 on day of the event.
