Lincoln City
Kite Festival
School is out, the weather is great,
there’s time to play, and time to get
ready to fly and imagine. It’s time to
start building your kites to fly in the
Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival on
Sept. 21 and 22. The festival is
sponsored by the Lincoln City Visitor
& Convention Bureau and the Lincoln
City Kite Friendship Association.
Among the activities included are
dual line kite demonstrations, a kite
boarding exhibition, a kite ballet
competition, and Rokkaku battles.
Beginner and expert flyers are invited
to participate in the show and join in
the fun.
Awards will be given for best
miniature kite, best theme kite, best sea
life kite, best cartoon or fictional
character, as well as other categories,
and special attention is paid to kite
shape as well as decoration.
Throughout the weekend, kites of
particular kinds will be flown in mass
ascensions of red, white, and blue kites,
theme kites, and sea life kites.
This year’s theme is “Imagine,” and
whatever you imagine can be flown! So
choose your favorite dream and build
it to fly at the D-River Wayside in
Lincoln City. The flying is never finer
than in Lincoln City, voted as the best
kite flying location in North America
by Kitelines Magazine.
For more information on kite
building and kite flying and for a
complete list of festival activities,
contact the Lincoln City Visitor &
Convention Bureau, 1-800-452-2151 or
