One Computer Per
Household?
Yes, the Tribal Council has
obligated funds from the 2000 and 2001
Excess Pledge Revenue for the
placement of one computer in each
tribal household.
Current plans include an initial
purchase of approximately 1,000
computers (hard drive, monitor, printer,
extras, technical assistance, setup, and
delivery). Tribal administration sought
bids from several well-known
manufacturers of computer systems
and received bids from the following:
Gateway, Compaq, CDW, and NexGen.
A final price and total number of
systems is being negotiated, and a final
deal is expected in the next 30 days.
In order to determine which
households may be interested in having
a computer, an application and
additional details on this project will
be forthcoming in the July issue of
Nesika Illahee (the tribe’s confidential
quarterly newsletter).
Please look for more information
in Nesika Illahee.
Editor’s Note: Siletz News did not receive any letters to the editor for this

More Housing
Rehabilitation
Assistance
Tribal Council has approved
housing renovation assistance funds
from the 2000 and 2001 Excess Pledge
Revenue funds for those tribal members
who are unable to meet the income
eligibility guidelines of the BIA
Housing Improvement program or the
NAHASDA HIP program.
To date, the tribe has been unable
to provide assistance to members,
owning their own home in need of
repair, who were over income due to
federal guidelines. It is anticipated that
the policy implementing guidelines for
this new program will be approved at
the July regular Tribal Council meeting.
Upon approval of these new
guidelines, applications will be taken
at the Housing department office
located in Siletz and Salem.
Please see the Missing Moccasins list on page 12 and help locate
some tribal members.
