Smokey Robinson, The Miracle
Man, to Perform
Comedy Night
on the Coast
Smokey Robinson brings the silky sounds of Motown to Chinook Winds
Casino on July 19 and 20.
A founding Motown executive, songwriter and producer, Robinson began
his career fronting The Miracles as well as composing tunes for other
Motown acts. While performing with The Miracles, his songwriting credits
included R&B and rock standards Shop Around, Going To A Go-Go, You've
Really Got A Hold On Me, Tears Of A Clown, Ooh Baby Baby, I Second That
Emotion, and More Love.
Robinson is just as renowned for the songs he composed for other Motown
artists, including classics like The Temptations’ My Girl, Get Ready, and The
Way You Do The Things You Do", Mary Wells’ You Beat Me To The Punch, My
Guy, and Two Lovers', Marvin Gaye’s Ain’t That Peculiar and I’ll Be Doggone',
and The Marvelettes’ Don’t Mess With Bill.
His songs have been recorded by a diverse array of artists worldwide, including
The Beatles, D’Angelo, Terence Trent D’Arby, Aretha Franklin, The Jackson 5,
Massive Attack, Dolly Parton, The Rolling Stones, and others.
Robinson has 36 top-40 hits to his credit. He has received the “Living Legend”
Grammy Award and has been inducted into both the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame
and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He’s also a recipient of the Soul Train “Heritage
Award” and MARAS “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
With a voice as smooth as silk and as timeless as the passions he sings about,
Robinson’s music has never lost its smoldering allure. He still sings with the
same sensual passion that generations of Americans have come to love. As he
puts it, “My songs are written about love. It’s an everlasting subject. Love always
has significance and it never goes out of style.”
Concert time is 8 p.m. each night. Ticket prices range from $3O-$55, depending
on seat location.
Chinook Winds Casino invites you
to become hysterical and laugh until
your sides ache at Comedy Night on
the Coast.
Because of the Rogue River
Lounge’s great success with once-a-
week comedy from across the
Northwest, the casino has decided to
go one step further with a total comedy
experience in the convention center.
About every four weeks, on Friday and
Saturday evenings, a trio of comedians
will perform in a 90-minute show. Each
will do a 30-minute spot.

at 8 p.m.; the show begins at 9 p.m. A
no-host bar will be available. Tickets -

the show - are available at the box office.

Bob Davis and David Gee.
Davis, described as “a very hip
countrified George Carlin,” is a
professional comedian and singer who
plays guitar and bluegrass banjo. He
also is an actor, comedy writer, and
improvisation specialist.
Davis appeared in the films
Gremlins, Four Stars For Francois, and
Gypsy Angels, and his television credits
include Sunset Beach, Mad TV, Murder
She Wrote, and Comedy Shop.
He has opened for several famous
performers, such as George Burns,
Kenny Rogers, Alabama, Vince Gill,
Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, and Merle
Haggard. He has headlined at comedy
clubs like The Improv, Zanies Comedy
Showplace, and The Funny Bone.
Gee, who specializes in stand-up
comedy, impersonation, acting, voice-
over, and comedy script writing, has
been featured on HBO, Showtime,
Comedy Central, Entertainment
Tonight, and A&E. He has graced the
big screen in Amore, The Misery Bros,
and Mad About You (feature).
Gee has appeared at The Improv,
