Defeat/Victory (A Reflection)
Respectfully my reflection,
Eva E. Clayton
In Memory of Charlene Blosser Lane
by Janie (Mary Hall Robb)
One thing for sure, there is no victory without confident supporters.
Defeat a mirror reflection. The reflection of commitment needs to continue.
Take the positive and direct it appropriately.
A valuable job description. Dedicated individuals who leave a self-serving
attitude or personal animosity outside the doors of service.
A position of accountability must stand accountable. Honorable, humble.
I admire and respect those who serve or service.
A council chambers’ hallowed halls need to remain neutral territory,
where all find respect and give respect.
1 believe the nine council positions need to reflect a single-minded
representative who works in a productive manner with the welfare
of the tribe as a united whole. Respecting tribal diversity.
Tethered ties can turn into a choke knot when abused.
Strengthen doors of opportunities and assure stability.
Beyond division, (empowering creative difference).
Mom - I just wanted to wish you luck at the elections and to let you know
that I’m proud to be your daughter. The daughter of a fair and honest woman
who’s only on council to do all she can for all tribal members. I love you!
Glendora, one of Jane John’s daughters
The world has turned over many times since we were
two young girls in high school together.
Our world was new, filled with dreams and all the memories yet unlived.
In the depths of our untried hearts we dreamed life could be beautiful,
for youth must find its own wisdom and untried paths.
But tonight, in wordless grief, I unpacked your Christmas present,
untied the bows, and returned its contents to my treasure drawer.
You have gone home and Christmas is yours in another place.
In the dark, with God leading, 1 walked to
that creek we used to wander together.
Life has flashed by.
I remember your laughter, your goodness, and mostly
the bravery you laid claim to.
You lived life fully and embraced the moment, without fear,
and always a smile.
And now, beloved friend, as the essence of the life form slips from you.
you are able to stand, to walk and to run.
Dear One, tell all who greet you, my family, your loved ones,
and our neighbors, "Hello " for me.
But mostly tell God "Hello" for me.
You have gone home, Charlene, and the beauty of the light
will make you shine.
Goodbye, Dear Spirit, ‘til we meet again.
