Chinook Winds Contributes to
American Red Cross
On Dec. 4, Delores Pigsley, chairman of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz •
Indians, and Jim Kikumoto, general manager of Chinook Winds Casino, presented
Peter Benjamin, chairman of the local chapter of the American Red Cross, with a
check for $3,305 on behalf of Chinook Winds Casino.
The funds were raised through the collection of donations from casino guests,
staff members, and the casino to benefit the survivors of the victims of the
Sept. 11 tragedy in New York.
On Sept. 13, just two days after the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and the
twin towers of the World Trade Center, Chinook Winds sponsored a blood drive
that collected 57 units of blood donated by staff members and guests.
Tribal Chairman Delores Pigsley stated, “We (the tribe and the casino) are
proud to be able to do our part to assist those in need during these difficult
times. This is part of our ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life of
those less fortunate. It is gratifying to be a business partner in this community,
which has such a strong commitment to helping others.”
