Stuart Attends Gathering of Nations
This past April, I went to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Gathering of Nations
Pow-Wow. I hold the title of Native American Health Coalition Pow-Wow Princess
2000-2001 in Kansas City.
I rode in a van with the director of the coalition, Shirley, a staff member, her
two children, and my mother, Marlene. I represented my tribe, Confederated Tribes
Apply Now for Siletz Royalty
The Siletz Tribal Pow-Wow Committee is now taking applications for this
year’s royalty contestants. The age categories are as follows:
of Siletz Indians, in Siletz, Ore., as well as my title. I met many famous stars and
Little Miss Siletz - 7 to 12
Jr. Miss Siletz - 13 to 17
Miss Siletz - 18 to 24
royalty from all over the country.
It was a great experience for me. I was able to see my cousins and family
from Oregon on my trip in New Mexico. There were many people at the
pow-wow, more Indians than I’ve ever seen in my life, at one time, in one place.
I also saw many other sites of New Mexico’s beautiful land. The Siletz Royalty
and myself told and shared about the Siletz Tribe; many people have never heard
of the Siletz people. It was a fun trip and an experience I will always remember.
