Kellar Named First Quarter Superstar
Guest Services Rep. Barbara Kellar was selected as Chinook Winds Casino’s
Superstar for the first quarter of 2001.
At the quarterly Superstar luncheon on May 3, she received a check for $ 1,000
and a marble tile, which will be displayed at the front of the casino, in recognition
of her achievement.
This is Kellar’s second nomination within two quarters. Her nomination read,
“She is truly an asset to her department and to Chinook Winds. She provides her
best possible service to both internal and external customers. She always
coordinates gifts and treats for birthdays, retirements, etc. for the whole
department. She coordinated a treat day for the swing shift housekeeping staff...
because she wanted them to feel appreciated. She has volunteered her time and
money to purchase gifts on many different occasions, for many different people.
She is genuinely nice and caring. All these acts of kindness have increased
teamwork within the department and across department lines. She goes above
and beyond for the sake of the team on a regular basis. ”
To be eligible to receive the Superstar award, an employee must perform his/
her duties at a high standard of excellence on a consistent basis. He/she must
exhibit above-the-norm internal and external customer service and be a team leader
by example. Instances of exemplary performance must be documented. After a
person is nominated for the award, the nomination goes through several reviews
before the final selection is made. Both casino staff and casino guests can submit
Superstar nominations. With more than 700 employees and only four of these
awards each year, it’s a real honor to be chosen as the Superstar.
Jim Kikumoto, Chinook Winds general manager, stated, “I can honestly say
with great pride that we have an amazing staff who go the extra mile to provide
quality service to our guests and I see examples of it every day, in every department.
It’s very difficult to choose just one person to receive this honor. Barbara sets a
shining example and I congratulate her on this achievement.”
Others nominated for the Superstar award were Kendall Logan, guest services;
Marc Daniels, Bingo; Craig Lucas, security; Dub Bellinger, guest services; Beth
Donelson, facilities; Cathie Barth, Bingo; Maria Watts, food and beverage; Teri
Tomlinson, Bingo; Carl Aarts, security; Janet Bisceglia, cage; Mike Blacketer,
Winners Circle; Linda Daniels, Bingo; Jim Frederickson, Poker; and Benita
Duratte, food & beverage.
