Win Big Prizes in
Tribal Census
Several Siletz Tribal members have
won some great prizes for their early
participation in the first-ever tribal census.
The tribe is conducting its tribal census
through the end of calendar year 2000. The
census will greatly assist the tribe in
assessing tribal needs and establishing
additional funding for future programs.
A survey questionnaire was mailed to
every tribal member (18 years and older) in
late August and included instructions for
returning the questionnaire postage
prepaid. Those tribal members who
returned their survey questionnaire properly
completed by Sept. 23, 2000, had their
names entered into a drawing for some
great prizes.
On Oct. 14, 2000, the winners were
drawn from among those who returned their
questionnaires on time. The following is a
listing of the winners and their prizes:
First Prize Winner: Michael Lane
Cadena, Pendleton blanket and a $250
gift certificate to Fred Meyer
* Second Prize Winner: Quinton Wayne-
Lawson Sauder, Pendleton Blanket
* Third Prize Winner: Geraldine Ashley,
$75 gift certificate to Fred Meyer
* Fourth Prize Winners: Rachel Diane

thank you to all those who helped in this
important early stage of the tribal census.
Although you may not have returned
your survey questionnaire in time to qualify
for the drawing, you still have an opportunity
to participate in the census. We will now
begin a telephone campaign to reach all
tribal members 18 years and older.
We are attempting to achieve at least
an 85 percent success rate in reaching tribal
members, which will assure the tribe of
complete acceptance of its census figures
by federal funding agencies. So when
representatives from the tribal census call,
please take a few moments to assist in this
important effort. The continuing success of
