I
The Confederated Tribes of Siletz, in 1994, adopted a
I Comprehensive Plan that documented the process that the
I tribe followed in establishing priorities, goals, and objectives
I for the next 10 years. The Comprehensive Plan calls for

To help gather input from tribal members regarding the
Comprehensive Plan, priorities, goals, and objectives, the
following questionnaire was developed.

Process
The tribe embarked on a series of community meetings
in February and early March in an effort to provide tribal
members with regular updates of tribal accomplishments
toward fulfilling these priorities, goals and objectives. The tribe
also is mailing out a survey to obtain input from as many tribal
members as possible.
“Seventeen major issue areas are defined in the
Comprehensive Plan, which are key to the future growth and

broad spectrum of topics that the Tribal Council, tribal staff,
and tribal membership must consider when making decisions
relating to current and long-range planning.”
The 17 priorities are listed on pages 14 and 15, along
with the goals and objectives adopted for each. We will review
with the membership the major accomplishments toward
achieving the goals. We hope that tribal members will, following
this review, work with staff in identifying additional goals and
objectives that the tribe should pursue, and provide guidance
I to the staff on the appropriate methods for achieving these.
Following the community meetings, staff will prepare a
presentation to the Tribal Council of the input received and
the recommendations of the membership. Council will then
work with staff to address the issues raised, examine the goals
and objectives recommended, and formulate any necessary
amendment to the Comprehensive Plan to incorporate the
wishes of the membership.
Finally, the Planning Department will work with individual
departments within the tribal administration to develop
operational plans that focus on accomplishing the tribe’s
priorities, goals, and objectives as articulated in the
Comprehensive Plan.
