M IN IM U M R E Q U IR E M EN T S: H igh School Diploma or equivalent and
six months experience in a structured early childhood education setting
(Pre-School, Head Start, Kindergarten, Day-Care Center). Able to work
effectively w ith low-incom e families. Able to use a positive approach in
directing child behavior. Able to . w ork cooperatively as a team member.
M ust possess a valid Oregon State Com mercial driver's license, Class B
w ith passenger endorsem ent -and have use of a personal vehicle. M ust
have a safe driving record and be able to satisfy a criminal record check.
M ust have a valid First A id/CPR Card or be able to obtain it w ithin 60
days of employment.
R E S P O N SIB IL IT IE S : Assists in the following through of the daily
educational plan w ithin the classroom and plans activities. A ssists in
setting , up and maintaining a developmentally-appropriate classroom
environment including organization of space and m aterial storage. Assists
in setting up educational and/or social service related hom e visits with
assigned families. Com pletes required documentation and follow up
activities. Works in a team setting w ith other staff involved w ith families
iri assessing the needs of the fam ily and child. Participated in Child
Developm ent Associates (CDA) program and/or other training activities.
Im plem ents a d aily bus route and transports for program related
activities. Responsible for behavior of children on the bus w ith particular
attention to safety. K eeps assigned vehicle clean.. Reports any accidents o r
malfunctions to the Head Start Director. Records gas slips. Responsible for
recording and reporting of in-kind services. Supports the H ead Start
goals, objectives and perform ance standards. Other duties as assigned.

Confederated Tribes of Siletz
Indians under the Work Experience
Program. This program has allowed
me to work with computers in an
office setting. This training will
enable me to compete for many of
the jobs offered through the tribe.
• I have had the opportunity to
work in many different areas:
Accounting, Housing Authority,
Fringe Benefits, and a day or two
with the Staff Attorney, Tribal Court,
and Payroll.
This training will help me with
which field of employment I choose
to pursue. Another advantage to
this program is that they encourage
you to go to school and further your
education. They will help you enroll

M inim um Requirem ents: Associates degree in social work, counseling,
o f related field -OR- high school diplom a/GED and 1 year experience
working with adults in health or social service field. M ust possess an
Adult, Infant & Child CPR/First Aid card. M ust have basic typewriter and
com puter know ledge.' M ust be able to w ork som e w eekends and
evenings. M ust adhere to confidentiality o f inform ation and individuals
as described in the CTSI manual and federal law. M ust possess a valid
driver's license and have use of a personal vehicle, and w illing to travel
extensively. M ust demonstrate good oral and w ritten com m unication
skills.
M ajo r D uties: Conducts hom e visits w ithin Portland area for enrolled
Head Start families. Ensures that needed social services are provided to all
families w ithin Head Start as identified in Fam ily N eeds Assessm ent
(FNA). Em pow er fam ilies w ith individual problem solving and/or
counseling, and long- and short-term goal setting. Assists fam ilies by
providing direct services, by m aking necessary referrals, or. b y advocacy.
Responsible for health requirements of all families and children within
Head Start to include: (1) nutrition assessm ent and feedback, (2) physical
exam ination and follow-up, (3) dental exam ination, treatment and follow­
up, (4) immunizations and follow-up, (5) health histories, and others, as
assigned. M aintains ind ividual health records, im m unization, and
tracking system for all enrolled children. Participates in classroom
activities as scheduled. Assists in m aintaining directory of health & social
s e rv ic e re so u rc e s , and develops a „system ter use these- resources.
Coordinates w ith H ead Start staff and facilitates w eekly m eetings
ensuring each fam ily is reviewed w ith appropriate follow-up completed
and documented. M aintains com plete and accurate required family/child
files, forms, and- records to docum ent and track needs of families and
Services provided. Participates in the conduct and analysis of the annual
community needs assessment. Works w ith staff in the identification,
reporting, and provision of supportive services in child abuse cases in
coordination w ith applicable agencies. Based on results of the FN A , assist
in scheduling o f parent training. C o n su lt w ith Fam ily Services
Coordinator on regular basis.
