Pages Housing Two Housing Commissioner Terms Up for Appointment in June 1998 INVITATION T O BID The Siletz Indian Housing Authority is requesting bids from licensed, bonded contractors for the clean-up and repair of the four- bedroom home at 24 Rogue River Court. We are requesting a lump sum bid, including all labor and materials for the following work items: B Y C O N N IE H O F F M A N SIHA Executive Director Tribal Members interested in serving on the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners may apply for appointment to one of two terms which expire in June. The seven member board is the governing body of the Siletz Indian Housing Authority (SIHA). SIHA is responsible for the development and management of the Tribe's housing projects and for overseeing the activities which will be funded by the new Native American Housing Assistance and Self- Determination Act (NAHASDA). The board meets in regular session once each month and depending on business, may also meet in special sessions. Much of the board's time is, spent dealing with issues involving the residents of the Mutual Help and rental housing areas. SIHA also administers a Section 8 rental assistance program which.assists Tribal member households throughout the 11-county service area. This is one of the most challenging and rewarding assignments within the Tribe. Board members are often faced with difficult decisions, which affect -the lives of Tribal member families. They aiso play an important part in meeting one of the most basic human needs—that of shelter. Clean and paint entry door and trim. Repair front porch light; replace all missing covers on light fixtures; re-fasten wiring on light fixtures in bedrooms; replace all missing or bumt-out bulbs. 3. Clean and paint all interior walls; patch any holes. 4. Clean all window glass, window tracks, and window sills, including sliding glass düor. 5. Remove all existing blinds and other window coverings. 6. Repair/replace coat closet door in living room; bathroom door; and two bedroom doors; adjust door to bedroom #3 so that it stays closed. 7. Replace broken light switch in dining room; replace any missing cover plates on switches, plug-ins in master bath. Replace missing thermostat knob in master bath. 8. Clean range, oven, range hood/fan, refrigerator, sink, countertop, cabinets in kitchen. Replace missing drawer front; replace handles on refrigerator and freezer doors; adjust freezer door. 9. Clean vinyl floors in both bathrooms and utility room; replace | carpeting in four bedrooms. (Kitchen, dining room, living room, and hallway floor coverings are being replaced by Housing Authority.) 10. Clean plumbing fixtures, cabinets, countertops, shower door in both bathrooms. Patch chips in- sinks. Repair/replace Cracked cabinet door in main bathroom. Remove and replace caulking at bSse of, tub. 11. Repair/replace fan in main bath; replace cover on fan in master bath. 12. Repair/replace window screens in kitchen and four bedroom windows; replace broken window in rear bedroom. 13. Re-install doors on closet door tracks in all four bedrooms; repair tracks as needed. 14. Power wash exterior siding. (Housing Authority will do exterior painting.) 15. Clean outside storage room. 16. Remove all trash and debris from inside and outside the premises and dispose of it. All work is to be completed within 30 days of signing of the contract. Bids are to be submitted to the Housing Authority office, 555 Tolowa Court, Siletz, Oregon, no later than 2 p.m. Monday April 27,1998. They m ay be mailed to SIHA, P.O. Box 549, Siletz, OR 97380 or FAXed to 541-444-8313. Bids must arrive at the office by the deadline in order to be considered.
