The services have been available for several years to assist tribal members in deterihining the medical necessity of their condition to be a true urgent or emergent situation. Policies and procedures were developed to prevent over utilization of CHS funds. The policy states all emergency room visits will be reviewed for appropriateness. An ER first- warning letter is sent on a one-, time-only basis and the bill paid, for one inappropriate use of the ER. After you’ receive a Tetter informing you of the use of the ER, your file is flagged and you will be denied all inappropriate ER visits therafter. The reason behind this rule was to eliminate the abusive use of the ER. Emergency room visit are four times the amount of a regular office visit to a parimary caregiver. Please use this service if you are not sure your medical condition can wait or not. The numbers to call after hours are: 1-800-628-5720 or 541-444-1236. If you need nassistance during the day, please state you need to talk to an ER gatekeeper, we will transfer you to the Clinic, j All emergency room vivists are required to be called in within 72 hours. The gatekeeper does not do this for you. Please call the numbers above to report your visits to.CHS.
