P a eo n Community S ile tz N ew s CASA volunteers: A voice for our children Monday, February 2,1998, Lori Jay and Valerie Hibdon were sworn in by Lincoln County Judge Huckleberry. All over America abused and neglected children slip through the cracks of our court and foster care system. They are often misplaced or forgotten, drifting from one temporary home to another until they reach 18 - robbed of their chance for the future. They often grow up feeling that no one hears or no one cares. CASA volunteers work for the judge, reviewing and monitoring cases of children who became part of the Juvenile Justice system. CASA volunteers bring an independent assess ment of the case to court, recommending to the judge what is best for the child's future. Speak up for a child!!
