Let me introduce myself
Hello fellow students, staff and other members of the Clackamas
College community. It is my pleasure to be writing my first letter to
you all as the new editor-in-chief for The Clackamas Print.
I hope and plan to serve in my position as editor-in-chief to reflect
the dedication, creativity, and diversity of the wonderful people that
make up this community.
Starting out online wasn’t easy. It was hard to focus and really pour
m yself into the work I was doing, but I found a home at our school
paper.
Many of us know all too well the challenges of remote learning and
what it means to not have easy access to resources, to get hands-on
learning and to be able to see each other in person. Now that many
classes have returned to campus, it’s been wonderful to see so many
new and familiar faces.
I started at CCC, and with our student paper, in fall of 2 0 2 0 .1 have
seen both the college and our paper go through significant changes.
I started as a writer, just testing the waters, and once I realized how
fulfilling our work can be I quickly became our news editor. I spent
nearly a year covering news before becoming our managing editor.
Every second I’ve spent doing this work has been amazing, and I
wear rrty love for this paper on my sleeve, both metaphorically and
literally (I got our logo tattooed on my wrist last spring.)
Although some of the challenges from the pandemic have subsided,
there will inevitably be new ones that arise to take their place; however,
I have the utmost confidence in our students and staff to meet these
challenges head on. Our community is resilient. Our students are
ambitious. Our staff is dedicated to making our college great. Together
we can weather any storm.
The Print has experienced its own challenges recently. We like to
have fun here, but it isn’t always easy doing our job. We need you, the
wonderful students here at CCC. If you like to write, take photos, draw,
design graphics or create videos, we would love to have you as a part
of our team! There is a place here for any student who is willing to put
themselves out there and give it an honest try. If you are interested in
joining our award winning team, please reach out to me at chiefed@

I want to give special thanks to Laura Canida, the previous editor-
in-chief, who is now serving as my managing editor. Laura is, in many
ways, the heart and soul of our paper and continues to dedicate a
significant portion of her time to both our work, as well as the students
and staff here at CCC. She left me big shoes to fill, and I hope I can live
up to the example that she has set.
With that being sa id ,! want to welcome everyone back to fall term
and wish everyone the best of luck for the weeks to come:
