Get excited and get involved
EVENTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE COMING MONTHS

With the first month of winter term coming to a close, students, staff and community
members can look forward to many exciting events and opportunities on campus.
From celebrations and community fairs to resources and new volunteer openings,
here are some of the upcoming events and available resources to look forward to
at Clackamas Community College.
Lunar New Year:
The Multicultural Center has a number of upcoming events for students to enjoy
in the Community Center over the next couple of m onths—the biggest being the
Lunar New Year celebration taking place on Feb. 5 from noon to 1 p.m .
Ariane Mabano, the Multicultural Center director and organizer of the event said,
“ For the Lunar New Year we have like some international students who are helping
show how Lunar New Year is celebrated in their culture.”
They’re also Set to celebrate both Black History Month in February and Women’s
History Month in March, so interested students can look forward to those, or get
involved and help plan future cultural events by volunteering with the Multicultural
Center in the Community Center.
Love Yourself:
Associated Student Government has multiple open events for people on campus,
including two special ones in the month of February. On Feb. 12 from 1130 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m . you can visit the health fair, and Valentine’s Day is the Love Yourself
event, where students can learn about self care.
Both events will be held in the Community Center and will be open for anyone
who wants to stop by. There’s also a new volunteering class available for anyone
who wants to “ basically put in hours for volunteering and. leadership and stuff for
developing your resume,” said Nataliya Kolbert, a student with the ASG.

Free food and clothing:
r The Cougar Cave is a great resource for students on campus who need food or
clothes. "With the turbulence of recent events both economical and political, the
Cougar Cave is opening up more ways for people who need help or those who would
like to donate time.
Annissa Rhynders, the manager of the Cougar Cave, would like to let everyone know
the Cougar Cave is open in the community center for anyone who needs supplies.
“ I would also like people to know that they’re welcome to come in and just grab a
cup of tea or a cup of cocoa,” she saiçf..- “ I’ve got instant oatmeal and things like
that if anybody needs to just grab sométhing quick. They’re welcome to do th at.”
As always, the Cave is accepting both monetary donations and any food and
clothing people have that they can donate to people on campus; for those looking
to donate time, an upcoming Earth Day event is in the works.
