PREPARING TO GRADUATE

W h y is th e d e a d lin e in fa ll i f we
graduate at the end o f spring term ? The
school’ s registrar must check and ensure
that every applicant who has petitioned
to graduate has m et, or w ill m eet their
anticipated graduation term — to be sure
there is enough tim e to read over every
single applicant, students m ust petition
for graduation by the sixth w eek o f fall,
term if they plan to graduate in spring o f
the follow ing year. In general, students
are “ s tro n g ly reco m m e n d ed ” via the
Clackam as C om m un ity College website
to petition for graduation by the sixth
w eek o f the term that falls two m onths
before their anticipated graduation date.
Petitioning for graduation is quick and
easy. The application can be found online
atclackam as.edu/academ ics/academ ic-
s u p p o r t/ g r a d u a t io n -s e r v ic e s . T h e
o n e-ste p online application process is
straightforw ard, allow ing ease o f access
to a ll students and ease o f receipt for the
registrar.
Added below the graduation application
process are two tabs: one to apply for the
com m encem ent cerem ony and one tab
encouraging students to than k a faculty
or staff member for inspiring them while
th ey’ve been at C CC .
The Com m encem ent cerem ony,
or graduatio n cere m o n y registratio n
gu aran tees th a t grad u atin g stud en ts
receive four guest tickets for their loved
ones so th ey m ay w atch the graduate
w alk in the procession. Registration for
com m encem ent is crucial for obtaining
the m axim um number o f tickets allotted
per graduate. Students w ho register for
the ceremony after the deadline are only,
guaranteed two guest tick ets;1 .
T h is y e a r, s tu d e n ts e x p e c tin g to
graduate in spring 2019 were asked to
petition for graduation before Nov. 2 and
can register for com m encem ent on the
first day of. spring to ensure their loved
ones can celebrate w ith th e m .
