FL: “ I have a feeling that it’ s gonna help me
grow in other ways, in ways where I haven’ t
really thought of growing before, because
it involves being responsible for ASG. I’ m
the person that people will look to like the
school will look to me to get answers so
I’m gonna have to increase my ability to
create relationships with everybody in the
student government, build relationships
with the school, build relationships with
the community. It’s really gonna help me
get out of my comfort zone of where I wanted
to stay by myself and not, you know, talk to
a lot of other people. It’ s kinda gonna help
me grow so I can learn to talk to and interact
better with people. One reason why I took this
position, like I said, was because I feel like
it will also help me better able to let other
people hear what they are talking about, so
maybe listening to students and passing their
concerns on.”
TCP: How do you want to impact CCC?
FL: “ One thing I want is to let more students
be more aware of what a student government
is. Most students will know about us, want
to get involved, take advantage of all the
resources that we offer and I also feel like I
can be a good voice and a good representation
to the community, the school and the students
and that I can help them get their needs met.”
TCP: What do you have planned for the next
school year with ASG?
FL: “ One of the things I really want to do
is maybe do something where people with
disabilities feel more comfortable about
taking part of student government and come
to us for help if they need it. I also want to
make sure that the school is also ensuring
that people with disabilities still have an
equal chance of succeeding and that they
continue to get the help they need.”
TCP: What is something that you want to say to
the college now that you have this new position?
FL: “ I just look forward to serving the students
aqd to just be a good representation for them
and making sure that their concerns being
heard by the appropriate personnel and Iwant
to make a difference - a positive impact.”
