Springing into activities
Finals are just around the corner, but quite a few students can only think about spring break.
Many students go to school (obviously) and work just enough to pay for the essentials.
Spring break doesn’t need to break the bank, there are several activities that are reasonably
priced or free. This is a list of 10 activities to do alone or with a group o f friends.

WOODEN TULIP SHOE FESTIVAL
T his ad renalin e p u m p in g activ ity is a
m ust w ith a group o f people. Fam ily and
friends, or even with a group o f strangers,
the poin t is th at team w ork is crucial to
solve the problem s. Som e o f the them es
include Trapped in a room w ith a Zombie
and Kidnapped- choose wisely.
The tulip festival runs March 23 through April
30 from 9 a.m . to 6 p.m . There are 40 acres in
total and the scenery is beautiful; great for
those people who love to take photos, and
parking is $5 per vehicle. A lthough there’s
and there is food available on-site; it saves,
money to bring food for a picnic.
Drag a friend along and go to the park to
play. W hether that be basketball, tennis,
volleyball, frisbee or soccer, the point'is to
get out o f the house unless your thing is to
N etflix and chill. Obviously, it’ s better with
a group, but also bring food along and make
it into a picnic.
Going out with a group of friends and bowling
at night is one way to make great memories.
Be sure to go to a bowling alley that turns on
the colorful lights at night. Even for those
who don’ t exactly know how to bowl, give it
a try. Make sure to wear white or neon colors
to light up the alley.
Located at 100 SE Alder St. Portland, OR,
it ’ s runs from M arch 23 to the 24 at 4-11
p .m . and it’ s free for all ages to attend. A
variety of businesses w ill be showcased on
those days. Pay attention to the different
cultures, music and yes, there will be food,
but not for free.
Located in W inston, Oregon, there are over
600 anim als at this W ildlife Safari. If cost
is not a big worry, then take this chance of
encountering many different animals. It is a
great activity to spend time with the family,
especially with kids.
Make sure to bring a coat, just in case its cold.
Go see the light house, go whale w atching
or even camping. Getting in the water is not
always an option, unless freezing is your
thing, but sitting on the sand with multiple
blankets sounds relaxing.
This is a tour underground Portland o f the
Shanghai Tunnels. The basic tours one can
attend include Heritage, Ethnic Heritage and
Ghost Tours. They take place in Old China
Town, but the tours also gives one a chance
to see history and the unique architecture.
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
Yes, Clackam as Com m u nity College is in
O regon C ity , so m an y students drive to
campus. Do many students w alk to campus
every day? Probably not. Just for a day, stroll
around the town. W alk down M olalla Ave,
go to a th rift store, a coffee shop other
th an D utch Bros or go to the park. A lso ,
the McLoughlin Promenade walk works just
as well.
Clackamas Print
This requires a longer drive, but there are
m any activities to do there. The city pass
is expensive at $89, b u t it includes five
different activities such as the Space Needle,
Seattle Aquarium , Argosy Cruises Harbor
Tour and a choice of four others. However,
walking, biking or taking the transit around
the city saves money.
