The bloodsuckers have come
to the college, and they wish
to take plenty o f it before
they leave.
The A ssociated Student
Government is hosting a blood
drive from Oct. 24 to 25 and
perform ed by Bloodworks
N orthw est, a blood donation
company. The. expectations
are high, in hopes people will
donate blood for the good o f
others.
“We are a local non-profit.
M aking sure our com m unity
has blood,” said Joe W ilson,
the senior recruiter for Blood-
works N orthw est. “ We started
in Seattle in 1940. The main
flagship is in Seattle, but the
nearest one is in Vançcfuver.”
The expectations are
high, in hopes people
w ill donate blood for the
good o f others.

Bloodworks N orthw est
hopes people w ill take 45
m inutes out o f their day to
save lives. If they can ’t give
financially, this is a way they
can be altruistic and help out
their community.
Bloodworks N orthw est
provides for all o f Provi­
dence H ealth & Services and
Legacy H ealth hospitals. The
only área hospital they do not
serve for is Oregon H ealth &
Science U niversity.
W ilson was asked if the
donations would go to re lie f
efforts, considering that North
America was hit hard by a
sanguinary mass shooting, a
couple of hurricanes and M ex­
ic o ’s earthquake.
“We are part of blood
funders that answers the call
to send blood for Harvey
[and] Erm ag,” he said.
“I know th ere’s a shortage of
blood right now,” said student
M adison Weinard. “The red
Cross has lim ited hours.” .
Due to the FDA regulations,
gay meh can not donate blood
if th ey ’ve had sexual inter­
course w ithin 12 months.
