All aboard for the Clackamas Community
College Xpress shuttle.
The college has worked to improve the
Xpress shuttle bus that traverses from the
C lackam as Town Center, H arm ony and
Wilsonville campuses to make commuting
less o f a hassle for students. The changes
include making the travel time more accurate
for arrival and departure, full service for
finals weeks to allow students to arrive
on time, and routes increased with 28 seat
shuttles, which are marked in green.
“We have a limited budget, so we have
to make hard decisions,” said transportation
systems analyst Luke Norman in an email.
Based on ridership data and feedback,
efforts were made to change the route during
Final’s Week.
“We heard from a num ber o f students
who were unable to reach their finals or
were turned away from full shuttles,” said
Norman. “Then we identified which times
o f the day most students were impacted and
prioritized improvements then.”
But w hat i f som eone fears potential
discrimination? Does it change when the
bus no longer is on campus grounds? The
answer is no.
“Discrimination is an issue that we take
seriously, especially since transportation
plays a key role in accessing education,”
said Norman. He further stated that anyone
that has had to deal with discrim ination
should contact Patricia Anderson of Human
Resources.
Finally, last year the shuttle’s bike racks
suffered from vandalism, which prevented
some students from bringing their bikes
with them. Norman says that both shuttle’s
bike racks were stolen last year and that
th e y ’ve taken steps to prevent further
issues.
“We’ve worked with Campus Safety and
Campus Services to find a more secure area
to park the shuttles and have not had any
additional issues,” said Norman. “We hope
to have bike racks on both shuttles when
service starts on September 25.”

The CCC X press is a shuttle service
provided by the college to help those who
need transportation from one of the campuses
to another, since not everyone has a car or
can pay for the bus.
The revision o f the sh u ttle’s schedule
doesn’t make services longer on Fridays.

You probably noticed while signing up for
classes recently that the CCC website has
undergone a serious renovation. Between the
change in color from its lively green for the
new red sheen, and the reorganization o f the
entire site, most obviously the front page, its
tough to find something that hasn’t changed.
This was done during the summer term
in early August, in hopes o f updating and
modernizing the site, and making it easier
to navigate. O f note is the updated banner,
which instead o f static images o f students
and the campus is now a set o f video clips
showing classes and students active in school
life, breathing new life into the front page.

alm ost unchanged, with little more than
visual d ifferences from th eir previous
incarnations, and even then everything is
located in the same place as before.
Perhaps the most useful new feature is
Self Service. It helps a student plan out their
degree and classes, showing what classes
they can take for requirements, the classes
they’ve already taken and what classes they’re
signed up for.
All in all, the site is easier to navigate,
giving new students an easier time working
out how everything works, and providing
a breath o f fresh air to all the returning
students used to the old site.
