RODRIGUEZ UNANIMOUSLY TAKES PRESIDENCY WHILE CARRERA
TAKES VICE PRESIDENT FOR 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR

Votes for the Associated Student Government leader
positions were cast last week, and the winners are in.
Alexa Carrera and Kellie O’Grady ran for vice president.
While both ladies were fit for the position, Carrera was
voted in.
Carrera said she is is all about the community. She
is ready to get students more involved on campus by
m aking sure they’ re aware o f all the opportunities
available to them .
Jairo Rodriguez was the only candidate that ran for
ASG president.
Rodriguez said, “ I really would like to wait until after
this term ends to finally say that I am the president

just to be respectful of the fact that we still have Brent
(Finkbeiner) here, who I will be relying on for the next
couple of months to train me so I can be the best pres­
ident that I can b e .”
Rodriguez said he is eager to start learning.
“ For the next month, he will do his best to brief me
on whatever’s going on as well as teach me some things
that he wishes he would have known before he started
as president, to make sure I do the best I can, and make
sure he leaves knowing that I know enough to move
forward,” said Rodriguez.
CCC will be seeing a lot more of these two starting
later this year when their leadership begins in the fall.

COUGAR 5K RUNS 5/28
EVENTS WILL INCLUDE SNIPER CRAWL,
ROPE CLIMB AND BBQ LUNCH

The second Clackam as Com m unity College
Cougar 5K run is com ing up on May 28.
With all of the proceeds going to mental health
and the school’s counseling department, it’ s a
good opportunity to help others and have fun
yourself.
The course will include more than 20 obstacles,
ranging from a rope climb to a sniper crawl, with
a slip and slide to end it all. A ll o f the obstacles
are optional. The course is fam ily friendly.
Registration is $30 for the public and $25 for
students with current school ID. The best way to
register is to go to www.active.com and click on
the link that says Clackamas Cougar run 2016.
The fee includes the 5K run, a T -shirt and a
barbecue lunch.
ASG is also willing to take donations if you are
unable to attend the event.
Registration w ill be open on the day o f the
event starting at 8 a.m . Check in starts at 9 a.m .
and the run begins at 10 a.m . Runners will be
sent in different groups in five minute intervals.
Parking for the event will be in the Niemeyer
parking lot on the northwest side of the campus
o ff of N Douglas Loop, by the Family Resource
Center.
