In April 2012 a ‘90s iavorite
returns to the big screen, “Star
Wars: Episode I?’ T h e movie
that m ade m any a now twenty-
something-year-old virgin squeal
like an 8-year-old girl will pre
miere in 3D .
W ith so m any movies
released in 3 D you m id it w on
der what most people prefer,
watching a podracer crash into a
canon wall or having that same
podracer crash o u t o f th e screen
and into their face? T h e results
are in and the answer is astound
ing, Clackamas C om m unity
College students prefer standard
2 D movies.
“[I prefer] 2 D because 3 D
gives m e a headache, and the
glasses don’t fit well over m y
glasses,” said Taira Avrill, C C C
student. There were m any rea
sons w hy C C C students pre
fer 2D , die headache caused by
watching a 3D movie is the m ost
com m on o f these.
O n e thing students always
have to think about is how to
get the m ost bang for their buck.
“Beauty and the Beast,” was rere-
leased in 3 D Jan. 13 and one
adult ticket to a 3 D matinee
at C entury Clackamas Town
Center costs $11.25, while the
same ticket to a 2 D showing is
only $7.75, saving you $3.50.
“They’re asking [for] a lot
m ore m oney in theaters, which
I think is silly for som ething that
is n ot that amazing,” said Becca
Smith, C C C student.
T h e downside to this deal is
the decreased am ount o f show
in g that some cinemas are offer
ing in 2D . I f you are thinking
about catching any film in 2D ,
then plan ahead; they have two
showings o f “Beauty an d the
Beast” in 2 D and seven in 3 D
at the Clackamas Town Center,
and m any theaters don’t have
2 D counterparts to their 3 D
films.
M ost people think that 3 D
isn’t anything special. It m ay
w ork for some movies, b ut for
m ost it is just going to force your
hand into that bottle o f aspirin.
“I prefer 2 D because 3 D
is a technology were n o t used
to yet, were n o t terribly sure
where the quality is going to be
and they’re still kind o f working
o ut the kinks on it,” says Lance
Dakotakruesky, C C C student.
“I actually saw ‘Avatar’ in 3 D and
I think m at was kind o f cool as
far as 3 D goes.”
W hatever your preference is
there is an upside, plenty o f o u r
childhood favorites will be seen
on th e big screen again.

‘DANGER, ’you’re doing some
thing wrong. ”
