Revamped website set to so live

C ertain classes require its use
and som e people find registration
to be easier because o f it; nearly
all o f the students attending
Clackam as C o m m unity College
have dealt w ith the school’s
website thro u g h o u t the years.
W h eth er in the frightening to
som e C ougarTrax and Blackboard
days or the welcom ed by m ost
m yClackam as tim e, students new
and old have been driven into
using the ever popular www.clack-
am as.edu. In January, new website
will be available for the general
public, im proving m any o f the old
sites frailties.
T h e current version o f the web­
site, excluding m yClackam as and
M oodle, was designed in 2005
b u t according to W ebm aster D ean
W alch, “T h e site was no t given
the developm ent attention th at
it needed and [it] brought us to
a poin t where it m ade the m ost
sense to start over.” According to
data com piled by the C C C web
developm ent team , in 2009 the
college appointed a web m anage­
m ent team to reinvent the cur­
rent website into som ething m ore
“interesting, inviting and easy to
use for external constituents.”
T h e “beta” version o f the new
website features an updated, m ore
m odernized look, w ith a flash-
based slideshow on the m ain page,
displaying different student stories,
and a link nearby advertising th at
one can, “Start your Sm art Story
today.” T his will open up a page
sim ilar to the “Future S tudents”
section o f th e current site w ith
m ore options and helpful inform a­
tion. T h e news and event calendar
are still seen on the m ain page,
along w ith access to the staff direc­
tory, m yC lackam as and C ougar
Athletics.
