hate it when I walk out of
a bar and I can’t figure out
what went into that new
cocktail that I just tried.
is why today I am going to go
over the best websites and other
resources for recipe seekers.
There are too many web
sites to count that claim to give
you information about spirits
and cocktails. The best one, of
course, is www.twenty-lplus.
com (OK, so that was a shame
ful plug, granted, but I gotta
get the shots in wherever I can,
pardon the pun).
The first website I would like
to cover is called “Bar None
Drinks” and is by far my favor
ite for finding new cocktails.
Think of this site as a Google
search for cocktails. It is con
stantly growing, thanks in part
to a large number of new recipes
being entered by site-goers on a
regular basis. You can find this
website at www.bamonedrinks.
com.
Next up is “Webtender,” a
virtual database filled with more
than 6,000 cocktail recipes. You
can search by anything, from
name to glass type making it
super easy to use when you are
trying to figure out what kind of
shot you want to have at your
next house party. Another awe
some aspect of this website is
the “In My Bar” section, which
allows you to tell the website
what you have in your kitchen,
everything from hard alcohol
to beef bouillon, and it pulls up
all of the possible cocktails you
can create. You can find this
website at www.webtender.com.
For those of us who have a
great love of not getting our
information from the Internet,
there are literally thousands
of books available on the sub
ject of bartending and mixol-

everything from saketini recipes
to shots with sexually themed
names (such as a “Blowjob” and
the classic “Sex on the Beach”)
you’ll be able to find anything
that you’re looking for. .
A
printed
resource
I
would like to inform you of
This
is called “Mr. Boston: Official
Bartender’s Guide.” This book
has been published since 1935
and has been an invaluable
resource to more bartenders
nationwide, if not worldwide,
than any other book that I have
ever heard of. You can pick up
a copy at Barnes & Nobles for
around $15.
Another resource
is a
book called “The Bartender’s
Bible: 1001 Mixed Drinks and
Everything You Need to Know
to Set Up Your Own Bar” by
Gary Regan. This book is a
fantastic source for preparing
mixed drinks, as well as a num
ber of bartending basics Tor pro
fessionals and amateurs alike.
If you can’t figure out what
was in that mystery drink using
these resources, you are out
of luck. Of course, you could
always call the restaurant or
bar and just ask. Most bartend
ers will be happy to tell you
the secrets to their concoctions.
Salud!

Upon landing in Midgard, Thor
is almost immediately struck by fate
in the form of physicist Jane Foster’s
(Natalie Portman) van. Odin falls
into a coma and since the next in line
is currently banished, his youngest
son Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is handed
the keys to the kingdom.
Any time a title is bestowed upon
someone without anyone else being
asked what they think (like, I don’t
know, Odin’s wife: the queen and
mother of both Thor and Loki), or if
this person is a traitor to his race, this
can only lead to bad choices, losing
friends and of course Loki’s favorite
hobby: genocide.
The story is a tale of learning
that you can’t be an arrogant jerk
and still expect to be the leader of
a civilization, although I am sure
there are countless “leaders” now
and throughout history that would
disagree with that statement. Almost
like a coming of age story, only for
an immortal.
The imagery was beautiful, and
that is about the only nice thing I
can honestly say about Hollywood
screwing up one of my childhood
favorites. At least they pronounced

At least it was better than Thor’s
earlier incarnation found in the Bill

Returns.”
In the end, 1 would not suggest
wasting the extra money to see this
film in 3D, if you must watch the
movie in theaters just go to a 2D
screening; it’s not worth your cash.
