Surviving Valentine's Day...
Things to do if
you’re flying solo

This Valentine’s Day, many
will not have a special some
one with whom to cuddle and
to shower with gifts; but don’t
get out the iPod and. play
“All By Myself’ and “Time
After Time” quite yet. There
are bunches of great things
people can do on Valentine’s
Day as singles,
A great way for guys
and girls to feel special is
to do something special for
themselves. Girls, go for a
manicure and pedicure, or
buy yourself a special outfit.
Guys, go buy that CD or book
you have been dying to get.
Both genders can go to the
movies or dinner with a good
friend.
It’s a difficult day for sin
gle girls to get through. After
watching endless Disney

about true love .for most of
one’s childhood, it’s hard
to have faith that someday
the prince will come. Don’t
despair, though, it is possible
to enjoy being single.
Write a list of reasons why
it is great to be single and
then do something to take
pleasure in being alone, like
take a walk or turn on really
loud music and dance around
like a maniac.
Guys have a different
experience. Most men view
Valentine’s Day as an over
rated, commercial money trap
(which it is) and feel pres
sured to get something for the
girl in their life. But if there
are single guys who are sad
on this day of love, they can
share in the pick-me-ups
as well.
Single men should do
something they really
enjoy. Whether that be
hiking, taking a walk,
going to a concert, or
reading a book, it will
definitely put them in a
better mood.
Sometimes
giving
on Valentine’s Day can
be more rewarding than
receiving. Make
a
special
Valentine for
someone
telling them
how inspi-
rational
they are.
Send
candy or
flowers to a
friend who
isn’t part
of a couple
with a note
telling them
how much
they are cared
for, or volun
teer somewhere
like a homeless
shelter or a nursing
home. Many elderly people
are forgotten on this day and
appreciate a card and a kind
word.
Finally, if none of these
methods work at curing
Valentine’s Day depression,
maybe it’s time to just give
in. Lay on the couch watch
ing You've Got Mail and eat
ing double fudge ice cream
with the tissues close at hand.
Sometimes grieving is the
best way to get over some
thing. But this is a last resort;
avoid this at all costs.
Feb. 14 doesn’t have to
be a day of mourning for
those who are single. It can
be a day of celebration and
spreading real love to strang
ers and family alike.

I have never read the Print
before today and dfter today I
never plan on to read it again.
I was absolutely disgusted
when I read the pinheads arti
cle ! ! How dare you attack our
wonderful ASG. They have
only had Jammin’ 95.5 at
their events once this year!
Maybe you haven’t noticed,
but most of the people on this
campus listen to that station.
Just because the playhouse
acts a certain way doesn’t
mean the whole station acts
that way. I don’t see the print
putting on “shindigs,” as she
so rudely called them. ASG
does a lot of great things
for this campus! Just think
how boring it would be with
out them! Maybe you should

Let me make one thing pea
fectly clear: I am a man.
I received my first hatl
mail, and not just any hata
mail, but handwritten hate-mail
Somebody has to be really pissel
(and/or a pinhead) to write I
handwritten complaint, and 1 fel
honored to have pissed soml
body off that much.
Oh man, I was as giddy as
a school girl when I unfolded
that piece of wide-ruled (wh|
the hell uses wide-ruled?) no«
book paper and saw the worA
“extremly [sic] upset!” at thd
top of the page right next to a
clipping of my Pinheads colunl
about The Playhouse.
I was really hoping that til

Playhouse fan, but no, it wi

where I gave ASG some advice!
