Name: Matt Zak
Age: 22
Hometown: Oregon City, Orc.
Future Career Plans: I plan to finish
school at the end of spring term, and then
I have a group of friends and we arc writ
ing a script for a movie, so we hope that
will bring us work and money.
Last movie seen: “Philadelphia.” It’s
about a lawyer who comes down with
AIDS and gets fired, so he takes his col
leagues to court because he thinks he was
fired because he had AIDS ... it’s pretty
sad but it’s a really good movie. ’
Last book read: “The Hobbit”
What got you started in acting?
A love bf film . I used to watch movies
constantly as a kid, and 1 was pretty 'hypdr
as a kid. I had no problem jumping
around and role-playing in front of my
parents’ friends. It just always appealed to
me. 1 was- into action movies as a -child,
but more recently I’ve gotten into dramat
ic movies. Théft I did drama in high
school and took the sequence here at
CCC.
Most memorable 'theatrical experience:
This is my first play so 1 guess it would be
rehearsals. 1 never knew that it’s such à
good tool. My friends and 1 made a movie
that was sold in storcs and everything—Mt’s
called “Evil Cult” ’and it’s kind ■ of a
comedic horror film. We didn’t rehearse
too much, so now' I sec it takes'a lot oif
work and then things come so easy.
Describe your character in “The Odd
Couple:”
He’s sort of an easy-going loud-mouth
who’s really funrty.
How do you relate to your character?
1 relate to Speed quite a bit. He’s a real
ly funny guy who’s kind of hard on his
friends but they know it’s in love. He’s
not too serious, except about poker.
He’s sort of a loud mouth and 1 can be
too, at times.
Name: Tony Marccllino
Age: 23
Hometown: Gladstone, Ore.
Future Career Plans: Coing to continue
pursuing theater and improv comedy. I’m
leaning towards going into teaching for
mt>re of a grounded career.
Last Movie Seen: “I .ost in Translation”
Last Book Read: “Coralinc” by Neil
Caiman. It was good—kind of like if Tim
Burton did ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ It was
nice and short, too, which was good.
What got you started in acting?
1 started acting my junior year in high
school. 1 didn’t think 1 could do it—too
shy. A couple friends of mine auditioned
for a play and 1 had nothing better to do, so
1 came along and I was cast for a part,
brom that point on, I auditioned for all the
plays. “The Odd Couple” is my first main
stage play in college.
Most memorable theatrical experience:
In a ComedySpottz assembly at a middle
school in Battleground, Wash. The kids
loved us. After the show, we sat there sign
ing autographs.
What’s the hardest role you’ve had to
play?
Junior year, I was i ft a play called “The
Voice of the Prairie.” 1 played both the vil
lain and the hero—-the protagonist and thé
antagonist.
Describe your character in “The Odd
Ciauple:”
Roy is an accountant and 1 play him pretty
nerdy. He tends not to be happy with any
thing. He is always complaining. Nothing is
good enough; it’s either too dirty or too
clean. He’s a pocket protector.
How do you relate to this character in
real life?
1 can be a bit nerdy sometimes. One of the
biggest ways 1 can relate is that he is always
trying to be funny. He usually fails—1 can’t
relate w theTailingparf/but l ’can rhlatc* f<|>
always trying to be funny.

pete in regionals. 1 reluctantly decided to
do it with them. It was coolest thing; we
took first place., in; regionals. I starting
doing shows my senior year of high' school
and have, been doing it ever since.
Most memorable theatrical experi
ence:
My first mainStagc show, senior year of
high school, “All I, Really Needed to
Know 1 I .earned in Kindergarten.” 11% was
a . monologue and the attention was
foqused all on me, and I felt so vulnerable
at that moment.
What’s the hardest role you’ve had to
play?
My'role in “A J,ie of the Mind.” It was chal
lenging'because 1 was-sljot in the leg, and
there was a half-naked girl on top of my lap
during Act 11. Coming from high school the
ater and going into that—it was shocking.
Describe your character in “The Odd
Couple:”
Speed’s always giving me crap,, and 1
always win. I’m the nice, winning guy that
everyone hates.
How do you relate to this character?
One of my good friends is that guy that
always Wins and you want to punch him in
the face. But you still like him; you still
want to hang around him. It reminds me
of if thy friends grew up and we still kept
iry ioufeh 30 years late'r; this is essentially
What ifwould be like ... it’s mirror of the
future.

Most memorable theatrical experi
ence:
In “Crimes of the Heart.” 1 [my charac
ter! was trying to commit suicide. 1 tried
to hang myself and it didn’t Wp.rk. I

inhale the fumes, and it didn’t work. It
was pretty funny. 'I also got to beat up a
phone in that pliiy because my ex-hus
band was on it.
