hind not wanting people smoking on
campus unless in designated areas.
However, I can also say I am one who
believes in rights to all whether they
be smokers or non; people should be
able to take time between classes and
fill their lungs with smoke, if they so
chose, to relieve stress.
I see that the campus has opted to
allow people to smoke at least 25 feet
away from doorways. That’s great
Give them a designated area to allow
their lungs to wither away. Ifyou can’t
tell my position, I’ll tell you. Smoking
sucks. I can think of better things to
do that require sucking and blowing
that won’t kill me. I don’t smoke and
I’m not happy that more people die
from secondhand smoke than the ac
tual smokers do, therefore, my odds
must stay at least
25 feet away
from the door
way” because it
seems to sift its way in.
About three million people die each
year worldwide from cigarette smoking,
according to Alberta Tobacco Reduc
tion Alliance. With these kind of stag
gering statistics it makes me wonder
how Americans find themselves puff
ing their lives away and waiting for their
lungs to wither into a shriveled, brown
mass of jerky.
I’m not happy there are so many
people smoking, but I’m not going to
bitch about where they need to smoke
and when and if they even should on
this campus. I value my health and my
life, but hey, everyone dies sometime,
right?

Do you care if smokers are in a designated area?
