The Cougar volleyball team took
5th place out of 12 in the Columbia
Region Crossover this weekend.
“I think we all came together
as a team again this weekend,”
said Co-Captain Cristina Merrill.
“The leaders are stepping up and
leading the team on and off the
court.”
Merrill was named an all-star
at the tournament and Clackamas
Player of the Week. With 24 kills
and 24 digs over five games,
Merrill was an all around player
for the Cougars.
Setter Sarah Entenman also
had a great day with 99 assists
and a 30% assist average over
the tournament.
“We had some good games
and some bad games,” said
Merrill. “We’re a mental team.”
Clackamas will play Linn-
Benton at home today at 7 p.m.
as the Road Runners attempt to
take away the Cougars’ 3rd place
standing. At the same time and
place Friday, Clackamas faces
the undefeated Mt. Hood Saints.
Clackamas currently trails
Chemeketa by half a game and is
ready to take control of the sec
ond place position. Although
the Cougars have lost three out
of their last four games, South
western being their only win, the
team’s spirits are high.
“That’s all in'the past,” ex
plained Merrill.
She expressed that the team is
in no way dismayed and is ready
for action.

experience, coupled with the 2nd
place NWAACC finish in 1998,
make Merrill a definite leader—
on this year’s squad, she is one
of three co-captains. Merrill was
recently named an all-star at the
Columbia Region Crossover
Tournament.
