-Although Piper spent only
two weeks in Peru and Bolivia, her
pieces show a strong South Ameri
can influence.
“The pieces were inspired by
my trip,” said Piper. “I wanted to
capture people in the culture.”.
Piper .loves to travel. She
spent four months in Nepal and
has traveled to the Caribbean, In
dia and the .Nordic countries.
“ I always go with my sketch
book and my camera,” said Piper.
. Piper credits her mother with
developing her interest in the arts.
She cites her mother as a key in
fluence in her life.
“Ceramics is like making
mud pies for adults,” said Piper.
Another major influence in
her life is Clackamas Ceramics
Instructor Katie McFadden-
Benepki. Piper was a student of
McFadden-Beneckilast year.
“She has been such an inspi
ration and is a fantastic instructor,”
said Piper.
In addition to working as a
travel agent, Piper also owns Milk
Creek Studios in Mulino. She is
also planning on opening a ce
ramic co-op in the spring. The co
op-will be open to all art forms.
“Art is so important because
it’s what makes us human beings,”
said Piper. “Creativity is what
keeps you sane in an insane world.
It’s like a release valve, at least for
me.”
The exhibit will run until
Dec. 5 at the Paujing Gallery. For
