The Clackamas Print Page 12 Wednesday, May 17,1995 SPORTS Cougars finish strong at Regionals by Jesse Sowa Sports Editor The Clackamas track and field teams had some fine perfor mances last Saturday at the South ern Regional Championships at Umpqua Community College. The Clackamas men finished third with 125 points, following Clark CC (213) and Lane CC (192). Mt. Hood CC (43) was fourth trailed by Chemeketa CC (22), Linn-Bentort CC (20), Southwestern Oregon CC (19) and Umpqua CC (11). An unexpected strong meet by Mt. Hood CC dropped the Clackamas women to fourth with 99, trailing Lane (175), Clark CC (119.5) and Mt. Hood CC (109). Chemeketa CC was fifth with 34, followed by Linn-Benton CC (25), Southwestern Oregon CC (16.5) and Umpqua CC (1). Leo Sanders led the men’s team with a first place at 1500 meters in 4:02.55. Sanders also took second in the 800-meter race at 1:53.55, which is the sixth fast est time ever at Clackamas. “That was a very fine perfor mance,” said Hodges of Sanders time in the 800.
