Off to an eager start, the
Women’s Basketball team will face
Grays Harbor Community Col­
lege Friday in their first game of
the season at 6p.m. in Randall
Gym. Saturday the ladies, will
remain at home and meet Walla
Walla Community College.
“Grays Harbor will be pretty
tough, they have a lot of sopho-

Phil Garver. “I don’t know how
Walla Walla looks. They’ve lost
their posts, but their coach usu­
ally does a good job recruiting. So
this weekend we’ll be looking for
our best”
The team has only four re­
turning players of which only two
are starters; Karla Yoder, and
Meredith Murphy. According to
Garver, though, that shouldn’t be
too big of an obstacle,
“We did lose a couple of po­
tential sophomores, one girl went
to Oregon to play, and the other
decided not to play; but, we have
two starters back plus Misti Gra­
ham who has seen some playing
time, and we have Stacey Wallace
who had no playing time last year,
but is an excellent team leader.”
Another variable for the team
seems to besize, with only one girl
over six foot. Again Garver sees
little concern.
“We are a short team, but we
are veiy very quick and I think
that quickness will make up for
our heighth.”
The ladies have participated
in a couple of pre-season scrim­
mages and have proven to be
competitive.
Garver explains that against

defensive skills,” he continued, “I
