April 26-29 was the annul
biology trip to the Malheur Ni
tional Wildlife Refuge. Coi
ducted by biology and botan
instructor Bob Misley, the pui
ppse of this trip was to obscn
birds, geological formations, an

“The birds observed wei
mostly water-fowl and shoi
birds,” said Misley, “includii
egrets, great blue herons, sandhi
cranes, Canada geese and mat

Shore birds are the wadiq

as willets, avocets, sandpiper
and dowitchers.
“Besides these, we also sa

it’s black head.”

observed at the marshes whei
they feed and nest.
