OPINION THE CLACKAMAS PRINT October 11,1989 Pages Campus Views A. Do you smoke? B. Do you think its fair that smokers dont have an indoor smoking area? Rae Anne Lunde: A. Yes. B. Smokers need one indoor area, with tables, so that they won’t be standing right outside of every doorway. Banning smoking does not encourage people to quit Troy Larkin: A. Yes. B. No, I feel that an enclosed space should be provided for people that is conducive to studying as well as smoking. Mindy Michell: A. No. B. I feel that prohibiting smoking in buildings on campus has cap tured the attention of the faculty and student body and therefore may be considered “conscious raising.” However, I do not think an adequate solution has been found that is fair and equitable to all of us. Charles Gates: A. No B. I do feel strongly that the in door no-smoking policy should be maintained, especially in an indoor scholastic atmosphere where excessive smoking Can be distracting. I feel that thé smaller designated smoking areas (such as the cafeteria) only succeeded in concentrating the amount of smoke and led to the ban. The indoor smoking ban is the only solution and should be maintained.
