double over Crusade The Clackamas Community College's baseball team put in one of the best per formances of their season last week as they won four big games to maintain their hold on the all important second place in the Oregon Community College Athletic Associ ation standings. The big week began last Tuesday in one of the most crucial doubleheaders of the year as they hosted their closest rival for the second spot, Linn-Benton Community Col lege. The Cougars then proceeded to take a big step towards the regional tournament as they easily won the twin-bill, 5-3, and 14-5. In the victories, Rick Jones' two-run single and Tim Wach's solo home run backed Bob Tollefsen's six-hit pitching in the open ing game. The Cougars' next league encoum a doubleheader against Judson Baj Saturday, they had to win in orders pace with league leader, Lane, sweeping a double header from Blue tain Community College. In the second game, an 11-run fifth inning carried Clackamas to the lopsided victory. The Cougars benefited from the seven walks issued during the inning and produced timely two-run singles by Wach, Mickey Wilson and John Kline to break open the contest. However, there was little doubi start to finish as the Cougars easily the twin-bill, 14-4 and 12-7. In the opener, seven runs inthe| of the sixth inning gave Bob Tolle! the support he needed as the Cougarr open a close game. Gary Lusby, (two hits, two RBl| Dyer, (two hits, two RBI's), Tom! (two hits, two RBI's) and Mickeyl (two hits, one RBI), led the wayi Cougars pounded Judson Baptist pi for 12 hits. Tollefsen went the distance topi his fifth victory without a loss while up only three hits. Tennis teams reap more wins The No. one tennis players from both the men's and women's squad are still carrying almost flawless records this year as the teams near their halfway point in league play. Continuing her winning streak, womens tennis player Kim Fleming is still undefeated in this year's competition and has tallied six wins. Despite Fleming's winning record and other wins carded in singles and doubles play last week, the CCC women's squad dropped all three of their matches. Winning players included Mike Maynard, 6-4, 6-3, Lemons 6-2, 6-2, Dan Bauer 6-1, 6-1, Johnston 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, Buddy Patnode 6-3, 6-3, and doubles teams Barnes and Maynard 6-3, 6-3 and Lemons and Bauer 6-3 and 6-3. The Clackamas squad had little chance for rest before their next match in Bend on Saturday. They lost to the COCC squad 2-7. Winning players for Clackamas were, in singles, Maynard, 6-4 and 6-3, and in dou bles the winning team was Johnston and Williams, they won in a proset 8-6. Other singles and doubles wins last week included the doubles combination of Flem ing and Budnick. They won their match against Central Oregon Community College in two sets 6-1 and 6-1. Maynard avenged his only loss this season with his win against Dave Nelson of the COCC squad. Maynard is now 6-1 for the season. Returning player Mary Budnick came back from losing her first set against Lin field 3-6, to win the next two sets 6-4 and 4-6. On Friday, the CCC men's tennis team shut-out Warner-Pacific 7-0. Coach Rich Taylor commented that his team is finally beginning to jell and everyone on the team is becoming acquainted with each others' style of play.
