Summer jobs
There are summer jobs in the sales field
to college students who are qualified.
"If you are a hard worker, independent
and willing to relocate you might be able to
earn as much as $875 per month," said
Mark LaFarge, a former Clackamas Com
munity student and now a recruiting repre
sentative for the Southwestern Corporation.
Southwestern,a subsidiary of the Times-
Mirror Corporation, annually employs more
than 6,000 college students in summer door-
to-door book sales.
Interviews will be held Thursday, April
7, at 3 p.m. in Randall Hall room 101.
Petitions available
"We're aiming for a voter turnout of
1000," said Debby Griffin, chairperson of
the Associated Student Government Elec
tions Committee, "but first we've got to
get some people to run."
Petitions for the offices of ASG presi
dent, vice-president, secretary and business
manager are available at the Student Activi
ties office and are due Wednesday, April 15.
"We are planning a voter's pamphlet to
be available to the student body for their
information," said Griffin. "We also have
tentative plans for video tapes featuring
the candidates to be shown throughout the
campus and then, of course, we'll be having
a regular election forum where the students
will be able to personally talk to the candi
dates."
The ASG elections will be Tuesday, May
2 and Wednesday, May 3.
VD awareness week
The venereal disease epidemic is growing
alarmingly. An estimated one per cent of
the total population has gonorrhea or syph
ilis, the two major types of V.D.
High school-age people are the highest
risk group with one out of five contracting
V.D. before graduation.
V.D, Awareness Week is April 4-8. There
will be an all-day workshop Wednesday,
April 6 at the Oregon Medical Association
Office, 5210 S.W. Corbett in Portland from
9 a.m..until 2:30 p.m.
Speakers will include State Treasurer,
Clay Meyers and Dr. Hugh Tealson. Rever-
end Larry Thorsen-Jones will speak on
"Churches Attitudes Toward V.D.", and a
member of the American Social Health Asso
ciation which is geared toward V.D. pre
vention will also be a speaker.
Topics discussed will be ways to deal with
V.D. as a community problem, different
aspects of the disease, making people realize
that it exists, the different types of V.D.
and general information about the disease.
Films will also be shown including the
new national V.D. film which was filmed in
Oregon.

Tri-Met meeting
Students met in CC 117 last Friday to dis
cuss the forthcoming change in schedule
that Tri-Met is planning for the No. 72 bus
line.
On June 3, unless there is sufficient
citizen action, Tri-Met will cut in half their
service from Kaiser Hospital to Canby. Ser-
vice to Clackamas Heights will be eliminated
altogether.
Complaints were heard regarding no ser
vice to the outlying communities around
and beyond Molalla, such as Colton.
The attitude of the group attending the
meeting was that it's ridiculous for Tri-Met
to reduce service when the population of
the outlying communities is increasing.
Marcia Tuma has been selected by the
Associated Student Government to repre
sent them at the upcoming Tri-Met Board
meeting, where the board will discuss the
reduction of service to Clackamas Commu
nity College.
