Most valuable player honors
went to pitcher Wendy Morton.
She had “an excellent year pit
ching,” according to Fiskum.
With a 13-9 record pitching,
Morton lead the team. On the
other side of the mound, she pro
duced the third best batting
average of .245.
Sherri Levi was awarded best

defensive player. She played the
most consistent defense accor
ding to Fiskum. Levi started all
but one game this season at her
third base position.
Winner of the best offensive
player was Kim Stewart, who had
the second best batting average at
.288. Stewart led the Cougars in
hits, runs, singles, home runs,
and stolen bases. She was “a real
threat offensively,” said Fiskum.
Jo Kaiser won honors as the
most improved player. She came
in fourth in batting at. 240 after
not playing softball for two
years. Fiskum stated that she was
“a little rusty,” but came on and
improved.
Most inspirational player went
to Milwaukie’s Angie Downey.
“She had a lot of spirit,” ex
claimed Fiskum. “She did a lot
of yelling from the bench.”
“I was happy with the way the
team came together,” stated
Fiskum, “I was also happy to
make the playoffs. It was a good
accomplishment. ”
Michelle Day, from Molalla,
was the team’s number one hit
ter and the only player with an
average over .300 at .309.
Fiskum said that she switched
positions. “All her life she’s
played third base., this year we
moved her over to second.”
“Petrece Kraft played almost
every inning this season,” accor
ding to Fiskum. “She was one of
the best catchers in the league.”
