ELC offers retreat for all by Bret Hodgert Copy Editor Not many of the students on our campus are even aware that we have an Environmental Lear ning Center (ELC). The ELC is a program that was designed to show how land can be renovated for human use while at the same time benefitting the natural en vironment. Located on the far side of the campus, next to the arts building, the Environmental Learning Center offers much for the public to learn, see, and do. The ELC boast over a mile of gravel paths through 3.5 acres of an en vironmentally balanced ecosystem. Flora and Fauna have been combined in a way to give the largest benifit possible to both the environment and public. The still water pools also create a small swamp land, providing habitats for numerous species of water fowl and other wet land life. Perhaps the pride and joy of the ELC is its Birds of. Prey pro gram. This program, headed by Dean Edwards, sports numerous species. A few of these include a Prarie Falcon, three Red Tailed Hawks and a couple of Screech Owls. Every Sunday at 1:00, Dean Edwards flies the Red Tailed Hawk and the Prarie Falcon. The public is invited to view this im pressive display. It is asked that a two dollar donation be made before the flights take place. Going to the ELC is a perfect way to get away from the campus hub bub and relax for an hour or so.
