Especially the people, who I have found to be some of the nicest and most interesting that I have ever met. Clackamas Community Col- lege has a new addition to it s music department. Dave Mit chell, a trumpet and flugel horn player from Vancouver, Wash ington, is the new instructor for the instrumental jazz ensemble. Mitchell went to the University of Utah because of its outstand ing jazz department. There, he received a Bachelor’s degree in jazz Performance. He then went to the University of Arizona, as they offered him a year as an assistant teacher as part of his graduate work, he is now work ing on a thesis for his Master’s in Music Theory. After college, Mitchell return ed to Vancouver and became a “musician for hire.” He’s been with the Chris Conrad band for a little over a year, playing current ly every Monday night at The Hobbit in Portland. Mitchell also plays with the Mt. Hood Kicks band, a local “big band” 'C that performs mostly origi material written by bl members.
