were at the College Monday
night to compete in a basketball
game with a College basketball
intramural team made up of
faculty members who call
themselves Staff No. 1.
Staff No. 1 sent the radio
people back home to spin
records with a 90-66 defeat.
KGON sent DJs Robin
Banks and Marty Party along
with various office workers to
make up a 12-man team.
The College team was made
up of the familiar faces of David
Buckley, Dan Slick, .Dan
Groom, /Kelly Sullivan, Phil
Garver, Paul Fiskum and Ron
Hoodeye.
There were only about 75
people on hand to watch the
Staff No. 1 victory, but the at

The Clackamas grapplers are !
preparing for the Region 18 I
National Qualifying Tourna
ment this weekend after taking I
second place in the OCCAA l
Championships last weekend I
behind Southwestern Oregon 1
Community College with 60^2 !
points to Southwestern Oregon 1
Community College’s 841/*.
The Cougars came out 1
defeating Linn-Benton, Mt.
Hood, Lane and Umpqua
Community College.
“I wasn’t disappointed,”
stated Coach Norm Berney.
“Considering we didn’t have
three varsity wrestlers in com-
petition, we did really well.”
Defending champion Lance
Wilson, Mike Keith, and Bruce
Sweet were out with injuries.
Clackamas had two first-
place victories, one second,
four thirds, and one fourth.
Taking first-place victories in
the conference tourney were
Bill Blackford, and Tom Over
bay at 158.
Roy Bonner took second
place at 190, as Troy Went
worth, Nathan Winner, Craig
Joplin and Scott Marks took
third place titles at 118, 134,
190, and heavyweight, respec-
tively.
Marks had a bit of a problem
qualifying for the second day’s
match. He was a little
underweight to wrestle
heavyweight, and had to eat
almost continuously to get his
weight up for qualifying on
Saturday,
' Now that the conference
championships have been
completed, the College team is
looking toward the national
qualifiers, which are “the goal
for'the year for -a lot of guys,” '
said Berney.
Clackamas , will have nine
wrestlers in competition, where
other colleges will have 10.
“We’ll have to give a super ef
fort to win,” stated Berney,
“because of only nine in com
petition.”
There will be four teams
wrestling in the regionals who
are seated in the top 20 in the
country. Among the four are
Gray’s
Harbor
whom
Clackamas has beaten this
season, and Rick’s C.C.'whom
