Remember the last time you
took a sneak preview of your
old home movies?
L Were they blurry jumpy and
were you somewhat undecided
oh which blur was you and
which was your baby sister?
Well, who says movies have
to be left up to the pros? Since
when have mom and dad been
considered pros (just because
they have a few years on you)?
No more! Not since Ron

Back in 1968 a lot of political acriyists
and young voters refused to vote rather
than support Hubert Humphrey. That^
omission helped elect Richard Nixon, just
as surely as if they had voted for him.
We can not afford to make the same
mistake in 1980.
In all' the nation there are only three
states where you can register to vote from
now through election day. This is one of the
three states in which the law was designed
to give people like us a chance to make our
opinions coynt. Nou), it’s up to us to take
advantage of it.
The margin between President Carter
and Ronald Reagan is whisker thin. Voters
aged 18 to 25 have the opportunity, to
deliver ths electoral votes of Maine,
Oregon and Wisconsin to Jimmy Carter.
The three states control 21 electoral votes,
the same number as one of the big, “super
states.” This is our chance to unite and'
speak up to shape our future. We can
choose four years;of keeping peace, pro
tecting the environment and putting Ameri
ca back to work, or we can choose the
v alternative: Ronald Reagan.
\. It takes just a few minutes to register
and vote, but the decision we make will last
four long years. Remember that on No
vember 4th.
Rembmber the record of Ronald Reagan.
Remember the lesson of 1968.
Most importantly, remember to register
and vote. It’s\pur future.

I
have decided to teach a class
called, “Rim Making For Kids.”
The course is now into its final
weeks and is designed to guide
the student in the art and prac
tice of SUPER 8 home movie
production.
“I’d just got “fired'up” from a
class I took at Portland State,
said Olberg.
“Ron came to me with the
idea, and I had had a little ex
perience in a film class before,
so we thought we’d try it with
children,” said Johnson, video
technician for «the college.
Some fifteen kids are
presently enrolled in this four
week course. It is held every
Saturday, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
All students were supplied
with two rolls of film each, and
instructed on how to use their
cameras and projectors. If the
student didn’t have equipment, '
the College provided it. They
were shown how to take care
of the equipment properly,
types of film to use, shooting
and lighting techniques, and
even how to use a tri-pod.
With all the basics out of the
way, the kids made up story
boards planned layout of what
the movie was to be about, and
how to arrange it. Then they
took off for their “set” and
began filming.
They’re now in the process
of cutting and splicing and
making all necessary prepara
tions to get the movies ready
for an official presentation on
Saturday. All the students will
present their finished produc
tions to a live audience of
parents and anybody else in
terested. Thestudent judged to
have the best 8 mm movie pro
duction will appear on Channel
8 “Just Kidding Around.” All
participants will receive cer
tificates.
“I figure the best way to learn
about anything is to teach it.
We are fortunate to have a
pretty good group of kids,”
says Oberg.
Job Center
Offers help
To seniors
Clackamas county has an
employment program for older
citizens called'“The Senior Job
Center.” It’s based here in the
RSVP trailer and its job is to
help promote the hiring of
seniors for temporary or part-
time work.
Formerly called “Rent-a-
Grandparent,” the SJC chang
ed the name in hopes that it
would spark more people to
hire seniors, and to clear up
some confusion about the ser
vice.
In the past it was thought
that only grandparents could
be hired, and only for babysit
ting. It is hoped that the new
name will open up more job
opportunities and give a better
picture of what the SJC is all
about. For more information
contact Susan Hill or Shirley
pxley at ext. 397 or 522.
