Throngs of bargain seekers mill past booths under the Bum­
side Bridge in downtown Portland during the Saturday Market
held each weekend. For some tots, the excitement was too much
(center); for others, viewing from the sidelines was sufficient
Sidewalk and street corner musicians were in abundance as pa­
trons browsed through the wares.
