Saxaphonist uses experience
to add depth to CCC bands
Keith VanVickle, a sophomore this year
here at Clackamas Community College, is a
saxophonist for CCC's jazz ensemble as well
as for the concert band.
VanVickle has
played the saxophone for approximately 11
years and can play the allo, tenor, soprano
and baritone saxophones, but is mainly in
terested in the alto.
"This year's band displays the most talent
compared to other bands I have been involved
with in years past," said Van Vickie. "This
year we are playing Swing and some con
temporary jazz of various artists."
VanVickle also said that he is content with
the operation of the music department this
year, but feels that some music classes should
be held more than once a week in order to fit
in better with the music students weekly class
schedules.
He is currently involved with a nightclub
act that is trying to get bookings with various
establishments in the Portland area. Next
year, he is planning a possible transfer to
Eastern Oregon College to finish his music
major.
