This year’s members of the
basketball team were true gen
tlemen. Sure, they had tempers

a temper then basketball brings
it out. All in all, the court play
ers deserved what they achieved
this year. They learned what it
is like to win and they learned
what defeat means. They are
thankful for a great year.
When spring rolled
around this year, track was
in the air and baseball
seemed to be faced with a
dismal season. Then all of a
sudden the General baseball
team came out as first half
Green division champs and
everyone else opened up
their eyes.
The second half proved to be a
disappointment to the team. The
playoffs finally rolled around
and the team had to shake itself
and it did. We dumped Cleve
land, the favorite, and were in
the city title 2 out of 3 playoffs
with Madison.
What ended up was what
the experts predicted. Madi
son winning the city cham
pionship. But not without
the most exciting three
games that anyone has ever
witnessed.
You couldn’t say much about
athletics unless you mentioned
the successful Mr. Mark Cotton.
Who else could go eleven years
in track without a dual meet
loss. Sure, he has had some great
talente, but ask any one of his
athletes and they tell you how
great a man and coach he is. He
will be around next year and
they will be shooting for another
great year in track.
It is really hard to mention all
the different sports at Grant be
cause they are all unique in their
own special ways. There are
many people around school that
deserve to be thanked and
should. You know who they are,
and they would really appreci
ate it.
Look forward to next year in
the field of sports because there
are some great athletes that re
main here after the seniors are
gone. To the seniors, college is
around the corner, but no mat
ter where they go they will al
ways be Grant Generals in the
true meaning of the word.
