G-Men trip Lincoln
Generals smash to 24-6 win

Lincoln’s speed merchant John
Mays gave the Generals a scare
by returning the opening kickoff

that was all they were able to
score as the Grant Generals de
feated the Lincoln Cardinals 24-6
last Friday at Lincoln high
school.
Mays, who runs the 100

Swim team strokes to victory;
drown Madison in meet, 72-23
The varsity swimming team
continued its winning ways last
week by defeating Madison
72-23 in dual meet competition.
The team, headed by Carl Rubin,
is now preparing to meet Benson
next Thursday.
“The team is still getting bet
ter and we are pointing towards
a city championship this year,”
stated Mr. Rubin. “At the pres
ent time we are concentrating
our efforts towards Benson and
Wilson as they will be our tough
est competition this year,” he
added.
Mr. Rubin cited Jeff Pittman,
Mark Powell and the 160-yard
medley relay team as being the
outstanding race winners of the
week. Jeff Pittman swam to a
victor yin the 220-yard freestyle
by defeating all opponents with
a time of 2:01. The 80 individual
medley was taken by Mark Pow
ell, while the medley relay team
consisting of John Evens, Mike
Phillips, Hoyt Walker, and Bill
Prows also claimed the first
place title.
